Lot Description

1795 Liberty Cap Cent. S-77. Rarity-3. Plain Edge. EF-45 (PCGS). An incredibly sharp survivor of this Plain Edge variety. Warmly toned in mahogany and chocolate brown hues, with traces of greenish patina around the devices. The strike is sharp for the die marriage, with Liberty's portrait fully defined and weakness to the reverse legend that is seen on all known examples. Scattered small scratches and marks are visible under magnification, though the complexion remains well-composed to the naked eye. PCGS# 1380. NGC ID: 223T.
