- FROM THE SEATTLE COLLECTION Ex Denali Collection. This is a VERY RARE die trial struck in Oroide using the regular Proof dies. Considered R-7+, with perhaps 4-6 known in all grades, which matches the combined PCGS and NGC Population figures which come to 4 graded examples. The Oroide alloy is a blend of 19 parts copper and 1 part aluminum, which gives the metal its distinctive golden tone. Sharply struck, the lustrous Proof surfaces glow brilliantly on both sides. The oroide alloy has delicately toned with an apricot-peach hue that is quite delightful to behold. Some scattered flecks, natural to the reactive nature of the metallic blend are noted, but there are no serious flaws. Struck from a cracked and clashed state of the dies. Very cool and VERY RARE. PCGS 1, NGC 0, CAC 1. The last time this coin sold was in March 2012, realizing a record $8,625. Today, the Collectors Universe value is listed at $6,500. There is just a single PCGS PR65 finer, a coin that has never sold in auction. Cert. Number 6647056 PCGS # 60595.00
