Losbeschreibung
1795 Flowing Hair Half Dollar. O-126, T-22. Rarity-4+. Small Head, Two Leaves. Fine-12 (PCGS). CAC. A charming example for the grade, both sides are attractively original in even silver-mauve and olive-gray patina. The strike is nicely centered within universally denticulated borders, the major design elements fully appreciable with some sharper detail remaining in the more protected areas. Three distinct die marriages comprise the Small Head subtype of the 1795 half dollar that features a smaller bust of Liberty; O-126(a), O-127(a), and O-128. Each variety employs a unique obverse die, which were most likely made by assistant engraver John Smith Gardner from an obverse hub prepared by Chief Engraver Robert Scot. This is a premium quality Fine to represent both the Small Head Guide Bookvariety and the Overton-126 die pairing. Tompkins Die Stage 1/1. Provenance: From the E. Horatio Morgan Collection. PCGS# 6054. Click here for certification details from PCGS.
