1845-O Liberty Quarter Eagle. Winter Variety One, the only known dies. AU-53 (NGC). CAC. Khaki-gold surfaces are suitably bold at the lower reaches of AU, there being only light wear that is largely confined to the highpoints. Well struck, as befits the issue, with only the expected number of wispy abrasions for having seen light circulation. An important issue eagerly sought among Southern gold specialists, the 1845-O is the rarest Quarter Eagle delivery from the New Orleans Mint. Original mintage: just 4,000 pieces.
