1848-C Liberty Half Eagle. Winter Variety 1 (11-E), the only known dies. AU-58 (NGC). Brilliant honey-gold surfaces with almost all of the original mint luster still surviving. Virtually all design features are defined to full advantage, save for a touch of softness at one or two obverse stars. Despite a comparatively generous mintage of 64,472 pieces, NGC has certified fewer than 30 survivors as AU-58 or finer.
