Simply put, this is a very rare issue in Mint State, as confirmed by the fact that this is our first offering for the 1875-S quarter eagle at this level since 2010 (and that coin was an MS-61). Fully Choice in preservation, the present example exhibits a dusting of iridescent pinkish-rose tinting on otherwise warm orange-honey surfaces. Smooth and lustrous with a softly frosted texture, both sides also offer impressively sharp detail throughout the design. Condition Census quality from a limited mintage just 11,600 pieces, the vast majority of which succumbed to the rigors of commerce in the Old West.
