FROM THE WOLVERINE COLLECTION. Among the absolute finest graded by PCGS, there is just one MS67+ graded finer, and this coin is SUPERB in every possible way! Frosty luster has a vibrant glow throughout, both sides have a pearly, silver-gold iridescent hue in the centers, while they deepen to an amber and a brilliant Caribbean Sea hue of blue. Every detail is very well struck and fully defined throughout. The eye appeal is exceptional. The 11-S saw a generous mintage of over 3.5 million, but few were saved at the time of issue; GEMS are scarce, and extremely RARE in SUPERB grades. PCGS 10, NGC 5, CAC 7. Only a single MS67+ is graded higher. While the more recent example sold for only $2,585 in December 2015, this world class example brought $4,818 in September 2015. The Simpson coin is the 67+, which last sold in our July 2017 Regency Auction for $4,935.
