Lot Description
High end and luxuriously satiny. This Boone is tied for second FINEST graded at PCGS with just two finer, and ranks among the best survivors of this low (10,000) mintage classic commem. A thick, satiny frost glimmers and gleams boldly on both sides. An arc of earthy, orange-gold tone clings to the rims, melding into a lighter gold and finally a pearly silver. The eye appeal is excellent. PCGS 90, NGC 46, CAC 30. There are 13 graded 67+ and just two in MS68 are graded finer by that service. The most recent example realized $3,720 and the current PCGS Price Guide value is listed at $3,500. Neither MS68 has ever sold in auction, but we suspect that if one did, it would bring five figures. Finally, after years of stagnating values, there are signs of life in the upper grades of this series, and we know this coin will see strong bidding. Bound for a great set! Cert. Number 39248131 PCGS # 9258
