Description du lot
Camden Hall Consignment. Bass-Dannreuther-6, R.6. Attribution can be a challenge because BD-6 is so scarce and the series so narrowly collected that there are few authoritative graphical references. The upper serif of "1" in the date lays atop the adjoining curl, and the top of "8" intersects with the bottom of Liberty's bust. The latter is the true pickup point, as all other 1798s have the final digit standing free from the portrait. BD-6 is frequently mistaken for the "large 8" logotype. Off the reverse, a die-crack snaking downward from just left of "OF" helps affirm attribution. No adjustment marks are obvious on either side, although the extreme left edge camouflages a handful of brief lines that reveal their presence only with careful examination. Overall, the mildly lustrous, golden color is a bit pale in hue, but some carrot-gold accents infiltrate a few of the peripheral devices. Only minor random ticks and handling marks affect either side.
