1799 Draped Bust Silver Dollar. BB-166, B-9. Rarity-1. Fair-12 (PCGS). A warmly and attractively toned example bathed in even deep lavender-gray patina. Bowers-Borckardt 166 vies with BB-163 as the most plentiful die marriage of the 1799 Draped Bust silver dollar. This is the popular Apostrophe variety, so named because of the die break on the reverse after the final letter S in STATES seen on all but the earliest die state examples.
