Lot Description

A lustrous and lightly toned example of this coveted issue with warm pearl-gray patina adorning both sides. The complexion is lightly prooflike, with a frosty texture to the fields and more satiny luster across the devices. Nicely struck for the issue and free from all but the most trivial marks. One of only 1,723,000 coins struck, most of which were subject to heavy circulation - an unusual scenario for a silver dollar issue of this design type.
