- Description du lot
- 1871 Pattern Five-Cent Piece. Judd-1051, Pollock-1185. Rarity-6-. Proof-62 BN (NGC). A bust of Liberty faces left on the obverse, the legend UNITED STATES OF AMERICA around the border and the date 1871 below. Liberty is wearing a coronet inscribed LIBERTY. On the reverse, a wreath of laurel surrounds the denomination V CENTS, with the Roman numeral V reversed. Struck in copper with a plain edge.<br /> Mottled gray-brown toning adorns a base of softer brassy-copper patina. Both sides are fully struck and, while we see no contact marks of note, the overall appearance is a bit too muted to warrant a Choice grade.
