Lot Description

1865 Indian Cent. Fancy 5. MS-66 RB (NGC).  A combination of fiery copper-orange and deep red-brown toning inhabits the well preserved surfaces of this lustrous Gem example. The design motifs are very sharply struck, with nearly full definition on all four diamonds, and on the upper feather tips of the headdress. The so-called "Fancy 5", seen here, is an interesting date logotype variety, and is easy to distinguish from the "Plain 5".
