Lot Description

1720-A French Colonies 20 Sols. Paris Mint. KM-453. AU-58 (NGC). This silver issue is related to the French Colonial copper coinage of 1717-1720, authorized by edict of King Louis XV dated December 1716. A mostly silver-rose example, the coin in this lot does reveal glints of lighter pale-gold tinting intermingled here and there around the peripheries. Fairly well centered in strike (the denticulation is at least discernible in all areas) with bold detail remaining in the presence of only light wear. Listed on page 50 of the 2011 edition of the standard reference <em>A</em>&nbsp;<em>Guide Book </em>of <em>United States Coins</em> by R. S. Yeoman.
