- 1881 Pattern Liberty Nickel. Judd-1671, Pollock-1872. Rarity-6+. Nickel. Plain Edge. Proof-65 Cameo (PCGS). Obv: Barber's head of Liberty left as adopted in 1883 for the circulating nickel five-cent pieces, UNITED STATES OF AMERICA around, date below. Rev: large Roman numeral V within a cereal wreath. This Liberty Head design was also used on the one-cent pattern, Judd-1665, and on the three-cents pattern, Judd-1668, of the year. Frosty devices and mirror fields are aglow with an even sheen of pale champagne-gold iridescence. Choice for the grade both physically and aesthetically.<noscript></noscript><noscript></noscript>
