Description du lot
1723 Rosa Americana Twopence. Martin 3.8-E.16, W-1334. Rarity-4. MS-63 (PCGS). 148.15 grains. A superb example of this classic type, showing extraordinary detail on both sides. The surfaces are somewhat glossy deep olive brown with rich golden highlights at both peripheries. The fields are finely granular under a glass, but appear hard and smooth in hand. Some light marks are seen, and a single natural pit left of U in UTILE is noted. A very handsome specimen, about as nice as these come. This piece is accompanied by the 1933 B.G. Johnson envelope, showing some notations in the hands of Walter Breen and John J. Ford, Jr.
