- Impressive luster seizes attention upon first glance. Subtle areas of peach iridescence radiate from within the sun's rays on the obverse, creating a lovely blooming effect that certainly befits a double-eagle right on the cusp of gem. Unexpectedly well struck (for 1908-D), the only possible source of complaint -- and it is minor -- is a fragile area of storage friction on the eagle's breast.
