1813 Capped Head Left Half Eagle. Miller-119, HBCC-3125, BD-1. Rarity-2. AU-55 (NGC). OH. This is the first year of issue for the type, and the BD-1 die marriage is actually the only one that is readily obtainable from the entire Capped Head Left half eagle series of 1813-1834. Type collector pressure is such, however, that examples are scarce in terms of market availability. Lightly worn over the highpoints, and also a bit lightly struck here and there around the central reverse, both sides of this coin are still generally bold in appearance. Flickers of original luster are also discernible, mostly around the peripheries, and a glossy texture and wispy hairlines are the only significant detractions.
