Description du lot
1913 Indian Quarter Eagle. Proof-64 (PCGS). CAC. Struck with the fine Sandblast Proof surface similar to that used in 1912, this splendid 1913 Proof nudges ever so close to the Gem level and is a true feast for the numismatic eye. Rich in color with the expected dark khaki surface that defines these rare Proofs, with the microscopic interlocking facets flashing like twinkling stars when examined under a light. The strike is sharp and full, as expected. Records report a mere 165 were struck for the year, of which perhaps 100 survive today. Examination of the surfaces yields few signs of contact, but for identification there is a short scratch crossing the eighth star to the rim. An impressive and desirable example.
