This stunning Superb Gem exhibits rich antique copper patina with vivid iridescent blue and pink overtones. The appearance justifies Rick Snow's comment (2014) about the 1885 PR2 dies, "Many come with iridescent toning." Vibrant in finish and all but pristine, to view this coin is to admire it. Premium quality in terms of both striking quality and preservation, many Proof cents of this date were struck only once and show isolated softness of detail. As well, few of the survivors are as close to perfect as this outstanding specimen. Lovely!
