- 1871 Pattern Five-Cent Piece. Judd-1051, Pollock-1185. Rarity-6-. Proof-66 RB (NGC). A bust of Liberty faces left on the obverse with the legend UNITED STATES OF AMERICA around the border and the date 1871 below. Liberty is wearing a coronet inscribed with the word LIBERTY. On the reverse, the denomination V CENTS is surrounded by a laurel wreath. The Roman numeral V is reversed. Struck in copper with a plain edge.<br /> With radiant, semi-brilliant surfaces and vivid reddish-rose color. Lovely!
