1872-CC Liberty Seated Half Dollar. WB-101, Die Pair WB-1. Rarity-4. Large CC. AU-58+ (NGC). A well struck specimen with shimmering mint luster and pearl-gray surfaces that display light champagne highlights mainly near the borders. Wispy surface marks on the upper reverse are only visible with the aid of a magnifier. A scarce early issue from the Carson City Mint that becomes rare and prohibitively expensive in Mint State. This coin is actually one of the two finest-graded examples at NGC, where a single piece is known in Uncirculated condition at MS-62.
