Description du lot
1896 Pattern Five-Cent Piece. Judd-1770, Pollock-1987. Rarity-6-. Proof-63 (PCGS). OGH. Bright and reflective with no signs of toning other than a trace of haze, and free of detrimental carbon spots. The obverse depicts a shield with ribbon inscribed LIBERTY draped across, with two standards behind. On the reverse an open wreath encircles a 5 with CENTS spelled out just below. Another feature of this scarce Charles Barber design is the use of raised dots or pellets instead of dentils surrounding the designs. Struck in nickel with a plain edge.
