- 1842-O Seated Liberty Half Dollar. Small Date, Small Letters. WB-101. EF-45 (PCGS). An elusive hub combination in all grades, the '42-O Small Date, Small Letters (a.k.a. Reverse of 1839) is always greeted with considerable interest when offered at auction. The present example exhibits outlines of vivid multicolored toning to the peripheral devices. Otherwise essentially brilliant, with good definition remaining from an uncommonly sharp strike that even presents well in the centers. The surfaces are peppered with numerous small and moderate-size abrasions, although none are really worthy of individual attention.
