- When splendid examples of commemorative gold coins are discussed, we would hope this beauty would be part of the discussion. The deep orange-rose surfaces exhibit expansive cartwheel activity along with a whisper of pale olive iridescence. The strike is sharper than typical for this design type done in tandem by Charles Barber, the obverse, and George Morgan, the reverse; this team was also responsible for the 1915-S Panama-Pacific Exposition half dollar. This issue represents the first time a gold quarter eagle was included in the commemorative coin series. The impressively lovely Superb Gem offered here will no doubt enjoy spirited bidding activity.
