1814/3 Capped Head Left Half Eagle. BD-1, the only known dies. Rarity-4+. EF-45 (PCGS). CAC. This second-year issue has an extant population of approximately 50 coins from an original mintage of 15,454 pieces. A remarkably problem-free XF representative, both sides are awash in khaki-gold color with antique-golden highlights. There are bold clashmarks on the obverse above the date, above the headband, and over Liberty's ear, but we can find no singularly mentionable abrasions.
