THE E.D.J. SET, FROM THE EUEL DURWOOD JONES COLLECTION A rich, totally original deeper yellow-golden colored GEM Indian Head quarter eagle. A bold and brilliant luster glows on both sides of this lovely coin. The surfaces are sharply struck with the incuse devices deeply impressed. The eye appeal is great. VERY RARE finer, the 1911 is surprisingly difficult to locate in GEM or better grades. PCGS 165, NGC 173. We sold the most recent NGC-graded example for $4,818 in January 2022. Prior to that, one sold in August 2021 for $5,040 and another sold in January 2022 for $5,400. The current NGC Price Guide value is listed at $6,275 and the Collectors Universe value is listed at $9,000. This one is actually nicer than the one we sold earlier this year, and should bring more.
