Lot Description

1853-D Liberty Head Half Eagle. AU-55 (NGC). A charming yellow-gold Choice AU half eagle from the popular Dahlonega Mint. Unlike so many examples seen, the present piece is void of most noticeable marks. Luster fills the crevices of the design elements, and individually outlines the stars. Some reddish color is seen as the coin is tilted under a light. The strike is a bit soft on the eagle though the rest of the devices are crisp despite the light wear encountered. PCGS# 8255.
