Lot Description

Glossy orange-brown surfaces show hints of deeper olive-gray here and there around the peripheries. There is some light surface build up in the latter areas, especially on the obverse, but both sides present as overall smooth and have abundant gloss. Border denticulation beyond the flan at right obverse, reverse off center to 4 o'clock with the border through the letters T LIB and the date digits, the final 7 entirely beyond the planchet. Centers characteristically soft with original texture on the obverse, although there is considerable sharpness to the effigy, peripheral letters on obverse crisp, seated figure generally well outlined. This coin will draw bids from collectors in many disciplines, for it is an above average example of these dies and will fit comfortably into an advanced set of Vermont coppers or Machin's Mills halfpence.
