Lot Description
1868 Pattern Seated Liberty Dime. Judd-641, Pollock-713. Rarity-7-. Proof-65 (NGC). CAC. The obverse is the regular issue design of the Seated Liberty dime except there is no date. The reverse is similar to the regular issue Seated Liberty design with the date and a six pointed star inside the wreath. Struck in nickel with a reeded edge. Numismatic research has determined that this pattern issue was actually coined in 1863 from a die that was incorrectly dated 1868. Brilliant throughout, the modestly mirrored fields show frosted devices and numerous die striae. Struck on a slightly granular planchet, the coin itself does not show any mentionable problems.
