Losbeschreibung
A visually stunning Liberty Head quarter eagle with intense mint brilliance and vivid rose-orange color. Every detail is razor sharp and the surfaces approach numismatic perfection.<p>The circulation strike 1896 quarter eagle is a low mintage affair with just 19,070 pieces produced. While double eagles were being coined in large numbers at the time, there was little demand for this lower denomination gold coin in commerce. Enough examples were set aside and subsequently saved from melting that the 1896 $2.50 is readily obtainable in lower Mint State grades through MS-64. Gems in MS-65s are moderately scarce, while anything finer is very scarce to rare. As one of the very finest known to PCGS, this high Condition Census Superb Gem is decidedly in the latter category. It would serve as a focal point in even the finest gold cabinet.
