1850-D Liberty Head Quarter Eagle. AU-55 (NGC). Bright and reflective yellow-gold centers are framed by deeper orange-gold patination on this charming Dahlonega Mint example. Well struck by the standards of the mint, the devices retain bold to sharp definition throughout. This issue is the most frequently encountered Dahlonega quarter eagle from the 1850s in today's market, however, it is much scarcer than the "common" 1840s issues in this series such as the 1843-D, 1844-D and 1845-D, and is particularly challenging to locate above the Choice EF grade level.
