1874 Octagonal $1. BG-1124. Rarity-4+. Indian Head. MS-64 (PCGS). Bright honey-gold surfaces exhibit bold cameo contrast between watery fields and satin-textured devices. A touch of faint haziness in the center of the reverse may be the only impediment to an even higher grade. This is the plate coin for the issue in the 2003 edition of the Breen-Gillio reference <em>California Pioneer Fractional Gold</em>.
