Impressive and frosty mint luster blankets both sides of this richly original example. The surfaces are uncommonly smooth at the MS-62 level, and the coin's appeal is enhanced by a bold strike and warm honey-orange color. A popular low-mintage issue, only 34,000 double eagles were coined at San Francisco in 1913.
