- Newcomb-2 attributes the Redbook 1844/81 obverse, and this is an amazingly nice, early die-state that displays the errant digits clearly even without use of a loupe. Superb, hard walnut-brown luster affirms strong eye-appeal at the commercial AU level, and the only detriment that can be found is isolated tooling on the cheek -- undoubtedly an attempt to remove some encrustation in the area.
