1853 Round 50 Cents. BG-417. Rarity-5+. Liberty Head. MS-63 (PCGS). Pale silver-blue overtones yield to warmer honey-orange color. Sharply struck with a smooth and appealing satin texture. Jay Roe had a Die State I example of this scarce variety; this is a Die State III piece struck from a rusted obverse that also exhibits a retained cud break before Liberty's chin.
