1819/8 Matron Head Cent. N-2. Rarity-1. Noyes Die State A--Double Struck, Second Strike with Reverse Rotation--MS-63 BN (NGC). A handsome mint error with the obverse appearing normal save for a thin indent around the periphery of the date and several stars on the right, the reverse with dramatic doubling where the legend rotated about the distance of a letter between strikes so the initial strike was cancelled to a large degree by the force of the second. Pleasing deep brown and lustrous, the overdate feature is one final delight to ponder on this desirable mint error.
