Losbeschreibung
Delicate sandy-gold tinting to both sides with a splash of vivid steel-blue and reddish-rose iridescence at the upper left obverse border. Authorized by an Act of Congress dated January 14, 1925, with a maximum mintage of 300,000 pieces, half dollars of this type were issued to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Revolutionary War Battle of Lexington and Concord. In the event only 162,000 coins were struck, 86 of which were melted upon return to the Mint, leaving a net distribution of 161,914. Given the abundance of survivors in EF and AU grades, this issue clearly saw significant non-numismatic distribution. This expertly preserved Superb Gem numbers among the finest seen by PCGS and offers condition rarity for the advanced collector.
