1793 Liberty Cap Half Cent. Head Left. C-2. Rarity-3. Fine Details--Corrosion (NGC). Evenly toned in deep brown with all major devices boldly outlined, this piece has much to offer the budget-minded type collector. The surfaces are finely granular overall, but there are no significant abrasions, and the coin is uncommonly attractive in hand despite the stated impairment. Struck in the first year of coinage operations at the Philadelphia Mint, this issue is a one-year-only type coin, as Liberty's head faces left -- all the Liberty Cap half cents that followed, 1794-1797, featured Liberty's profile to the right.
