17 in AU-50 and 501 higher at PCGS. Housed in a old green label PCGS AU-50 holder, this 1888-O eagle has the perfect original look that pre-33 collectors adore. Toned golden surfaces with swirling luster in the fields and darker devices almost give a circulated cameo appearance. Minor abrasions and friction in the fields are no doubt responsible for the Almost Uncirculated grade, but most AU coins do not have this level of eye appeal. Branch mint gold collectors will take note when this lot come up (ls).
