1853/'2' Liberty Head Double Eagle. FS-301. AU-53 (PCGS). Handsome orange-khaki patina blankets boldly defined features that are silent on the subject of individually distracting abrasions. The 1853/2 overdate is the only one of its kind in the double eagle series until the 1909/8 issue more than half a century later. Though it took a while for this 1853/2 issue to catch on with collectors, it is now eagerly sought by many specialists in the series. PCGS# 8909. NGC ID: 268M.
