Full, razor sharp striking detail enhances this coin's appeal for high grade type purposes. The mintage of this issue is 1,361,355 circulation strikes. With many examples hoarded soon after Eastern banks suspended gold specie payments in December of the preceding year, the 1862 gold dollar is among the most popular in its series for Mint State type purposes.
