1840 Liberty Head Eagle. AU-55 (PCGS). This underrated issue is surprisingly difficult to find in higher grades, and Mint State pieces are nearly impossible to locate. Even an attractive AU like the present coin is challenging for the specialist. This lovely honey-gold piece has satiny surfaces with traces of luster remaining.
