1861 Liberty Seated Half Dollar. Proof-62 (PCGS). More or less brilliant centers are framed in mottled iridescent toning that includes multiple vivid colors. A fully impressed and nicely preserved survivor from a mintage of 1,000 pieces, many examples of which were undoubtedly placed into circulation when they failed to sell to contemporary collectors.
