Lot Description

1787 New Jersey Copper. Maris 43-d, W-5225. Rarity-1. Small Planchet, Plain Shield. AU-58 (NGC). Appealing light brown with some gloss and a hint of golden toning. Some very minor old encrustation is seen here and there under a glass, nothing serious, just the undisturbed dust of an original coin. Reverse die cracked at center, clashed at top. Ideally centered with a full round of denticles on both sides. A very handsome New Jersey type coin with a strong old provenance.
