Lot Description

1847-D Liberty Head Quarter Eagle. Winter 9-N, the only known dies. EF-40 (PCGS). Vivid and lustrous EF surfaces feature a blend of deep orange-gold and more iridescent reddish-rose colors. Detail is sharper on the obverse, yet still suitably bold on the reverse for the assigned grade. A coin with much to recommend it to mintmarked gold type collectors as well as specialists in this challenging Southern gold series.
