1739/2-A Sou Marque. Paris Mint. Vlack-17c. Rarity-8. Second Semester. EF-45 (PCGS). Nearly full silvering to surfaces that have toned nicely in iridescent antique gold and pearl-gray. Light planchet striations are hardly worth mentioning, both sides impressively smooth in the absence of troublesome marks. Nicely centered and well struck with trivial softness affecting only the letters TUM in BENEDICTUM. The diagnostic feature of the Vlack-17c attribution is plainly evident at the base of the digit 9 in the date. Provenance: From the Sydney F. Martin Collection.
