Description du lot
1821 Capped Head Left Quarter Eagle. BD-1, the only known dies. Rarity-5. EF-40 (PCGS). Splendid quality and eye appeal for a quarter eagle with light circulation as the fields and devices show no deep or distracting marks. Liberty's hair curls retain their separation after limited wear as do the eagle's wing feathers. Pleasing yellow-gold color with hints of luster in the protected areas. From the mintage of 6,448 pieces, perhaps 40 to 60 are known today in all grades. The 1821 is rare not only as a date, but as a type as well. We expect a lot of interest when this comes up for bidding consideration.
