Lot Description

1868 Silver Three-Cent Piece. MS-64 (NGC). CAC. Handsome rose and blue toning spans the obverse and reverse, the strike is sharp and the surfaces show just a few minor handling marks. The mintage for the year was a mere 3,500 pieces for circulation, and few remain today in any grade, let alone a point back from the gem level. Perhaps 100 to 150 pieces survive today including circulated examples, so these are rarely offered.
