1885 Three-Dollar Gold Piece. AU-53 (PCGS). With a mintage of 800 pieces coined for circulation one understands that all survivors are scarce. Perhaps a few hundred exist today, indeed, if that many to represent the issue. Lovely orange-gold surfaces reveal isolated areas of original mint luster in the protected areas of this sharply struck example, free from handling issues.
